There have been numerous cases of unreported petty
crimes in our neighborhood and sudden increase in the number of stray cats and dogs
in the area. Hence, I am writing this post to tell you more about the problems and giving you some suggestions on how to improve the current situation.

Stray cats are fed in the public area by compassionate public, but this kind move seems to be affecting the environment and the residents.Although food were placed on a piece of paper for the stray cats to feed on, they were laying all around the streets or being blown away by the wind after the food was fed.
In addition, there are also reported cases of joggers being bitten by stray dogs. What could we possibly do to prevent this?

This picture shows that the garbage is all around the ground. This situation happens to be created by the stray cats after they finished eating their food which were placed by residents for the cats.To me, it is no wrong to find its own food when they are hungry but this are bringing pollution and inconvenience to resident.
Suggestions
- SPCA.Residents of valley street might want to try adopting the same idea as Singapore to have an association to help take care this stray cats and dogs. By doing so, there will be lesser stray cats and dogs in the area, residents will not be worried that they will be bitten by stray dogs and litters that are left by the cats.There is a video below that shows what is Singapore doing to help the stray animals.
- Check the urgency of the situation. Seeing an unattended dog outside is like seeing a fish out of water and, though your instincts may urge you to help it, you want to make sure that you are not making the situation worse. For instance, if you see a dog playing Frogger in traffic, running after the dog could place you, surrounding pedestrians and passing motorists in great danger. In this case, it might be safer to wait until the dog is in a safe place before providing assistance. Conversely, if a dog is already in a safe place, you don’t want to do anything to scare the dog and place it in a dangerous situation. Only if the dog is in need of help and your surroundings are safe, should you proceed on your path to animal heroism.
- Protect yourself at all times.If the dog does become hostile and you want to get it in your possession for its safety and the safety of others, you should approach the dog with a barrier. Any object, like a tennis racket or a skateboard, can be used as a barrier between you and the dog to prevent it from biting you while allowing you to get closer to it.

- CCTV Surveillance
Putting up CCTV is another way of preventing vandalism. Because it would be captured in the camera if any vandalism or crime is done. This case they would consider of the consequences of being caught and also it will be easier for the police to track.
- Improve lighting
Improve the lighting around the neighborhood so that it will be easier for people to spot if any there were any suspicious looking people trying to vandalize. Nonetheless resident should report to the police if witnessed any suspicious looking person loitering around.
4. Pickpocket
Pickpocket is another issue in valley street. These petty criminals are getting away Scot free and
residents are starting to worry for their safety. With the increasing pickpocket, it is very dangerous for residents.
